Stan’s Dad and Lad Shop was founded by Stan Gibson in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in 1955. In the early 1960s, Jim Myra went to work for Stan and after completing high school he joined the shop full time. Over the next 40 years Jim realized his passion of working with and helping people look their best and in 2000 Jim bought the business from Stan.

In 2000, Jim’s son Jamie Myra joined the team along with Joan Feener. Joan worked with Stan and Jim for over 30 years and was as recognizable as both Jim and Stan in the shop. 

After serving the community for over 4 decades, Mr. Jim Myra passed away on June 24, 2022. We at Stan's Dad and Lad Shop remember Jim for his valuable support over the years and we miss him dearly. 

Jim's Son - Jamie Myra is now the full owner and the team is available to serve the community. 

Over the years Jamie learned the business inside and out from the two seasoned veterans, and is now the shop’s owner. Jamie has branched out the business to include outfitting corporate and sports teams as well as individual orders.

Joan retired in 2003 and Valerie Whynacht joined the team as their Tuxedo specialist - so when you are looking to tie the knot, know Valerie is here for you. Valerie brags to people that the reason she was originally hired is because she is a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and both Jim and Jamie won’t deny that possibility!!
